We know Climate change is already affecting Dumfries and
Galloway through:

• Loss of saltmarshes on the Solway coast caused by accelerated erosion from sea level rise
• Access restrictions to historic sites from masonry failure from increased rainfall
• Heat stress impacts on outdoor workers in primary production sectors
• Over 10,000 homes and businesses already at risk of flooding
• Salmon populations stressed from increased water temperatures

Without coordinated action, these changes will increasingly threaten the region’s communities, economy, infrastructure, and natural environment. Climate Ready Dumfries and Galloway seek to work with all partners in the region looking for shared opportunities to implement climate adaptation that will make the region more resilient socially, economically and environmentally.
